To get to know our new people a little better; we ask each new partner six questions after they join. Read John's spontaneous response:
1 Why this new step in your career?
I think the time is right to take on two new challenges: becoming my own boss and using my knowledge and skills to help companies move forward. As a born problem solver; the concept of ERA Group appeals to me enormously: supporting CxOs and managers in strategic and tactical issues; advising them on how to increase profitability and helping them to avoid new or additional problems. In short; a wonderful new step towards 'giving back'.
2 Was this what you wanted to do when you were a little boy?
No... as a little boy; my dream was to be a pilot; so that plan has changed. But I have been looking forward to becoming an entrepreneur for years now. And if I can now succeed in reaching greater heights with ERA; then both dreams will come true.
3 Every career has its ups and downs. What are you proud of? And what would you like to do over?
I have enjoyed leading teams all over the world. But what really makes me proud is the fact that I have helped teams grow and develop. For me; this is the core of business success: it all starts with people.
4 What kind of (work) challenge would you get up for?
Any challenging problem. And then working together; joining forces; to find solutions. That's my true passion!
5 Who is your role model?
Yvon Chouinard; founder of Patagonia. He has shown me that staying true to your values can also lead to enormous business success. I find that tenacious focus on sustainability at 'his' Patagonia truly admirable.
6 What is your ERA dream?
Of course; I hope that my business will develop into a thriving company with a well-filled pipeline. But what I'm really looking forward to is doing this together with others. By strengthening the ERA Group network; both my customers and ERA can benefit.
