Romcarbon SA was open to testing how external expertise could add value. ERA was initially involved in a packaging project with the aim of testing whether real cost reductions could be achieved without affecting trusted relationships with suppliers or operational stability.
Romcarbon SA is one of the pioneers of the plastics processing industry in Romania. With over 70 years of experience in processing polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC and polystyrene, the company has consolidated its position both on the local market and at European level. Today, Romcarbon is recognised as the largest manufacturer of plastic packaging in the country, a benchmark for tradition and innovation in the field.
Although Romcarbon has an internal team for cost control and procurement, they were open to testing how external expertise could add value. However, they chose a cautious approach and preferred to start with a limited pilot project. After almost two years of discussions, ERA was initially involved in a project in the packaging area, with the aim of testing whether real cost reductions could be achieved without affecting trust-based relationships with suppliers or operational stability.
The initial results confirmed the potential, and Romcarbon decided to extend the partnership to energy procurement – a strategic category with a significant impact on costs.
