For the ninth time; the price comparison website Heureka announced the results of its Shop of the Year survey. The perfume shop Notino.cz was named the best e-shop of the year in Czechia for the second time.
The award is based on 4.5 million customer reviews; who filled out a satisfaction questionnaire after shopping online. The popularity award went to the "department store" Onlineshop.cz; which received the most votes from internet users. And the Heureka Award was given by a panel of experts to the e-shop Mixit.cz for its original business idea and customer service.
A number of high-quality shops were in the running for the competition and won partial awards in individual categories. For example; CZC.cz; Mountfield and Kytary.cz scored highly in the Popularity Award; while the gold medal in the Quality Awards went to Datart e-shops; mobile Sunnysoft.cz; and Lékárna.cz; which beat Benu.cz in the health category.
Expense Reduction Analysts has long been involved in the online shopping segment; which is why we are delighted with the rankings of our clients; including the perfume and cosmetics e-shop El nino won a silver medal in the Quality Award: Beauty and Health; while Pneumatiky.cz took bronze; also in the Quality Award.
In connection with the announcement of the awards; Hospodářské noviny published an analysis by E-commerce Europe; according to which Czechia is among the countries with the highest share of online shopping. Denmark leads (24%); followed by the United Kingdom (21%) and Germany (11%). In the Czech Republic; the share of e-shops in retail sales exceeded ten percent for the first time last year (for comparison: online shops have the smallest share in Bulgaria; where they account for only 1.3% of retail turnover).
The flaw in the Shop of the Year competition is that it does not cover the entire market – awards are only given to e-shops that use the Heureka comparison service. This means that Alza.cz; for example; is missing; whose sales of around CZK 16 billion represent roughly fourteen per cent of the Czech e-commerce segment. Alza stopped using Heureka in the spring of 2016; when it was taken over by the Rockaway group; whose portfolio includes competing e-shops led by Mall.cz.
An overview of all the Shop of the Year 2017 awards is available on the official competition website.
