Josef Martin GmbH reduces transport and CEP costs and increases revenue for recyclable materials

The company Josef Martin GmbH, based in Braz, has stood for reliable quality in the metal sector since 1961 and offers engineering, production and sales from a single source. The company's core competencies lie in the areas of quick-change systems and attachments for hydraulic excavators as well as special hydraulic couplings. In order to establish a sustainable cost management system, Walter Klaus Farkas, authorised signatory and commercial director of Josef Martin GmbH, commissioned Peter Fink from ERA Group to examine and optimise costs in the areas of CEP, transport and waste disposal. Fink consulted the expert Volker Klinkosch on the subject of waste disposal.
The company spent just over £200,000 per year on transport and CEP services. Josef Martin GmbH worked with nine service providers. In order to find a suitable mix of service providers, ERA Group analysed the shipping patterns and drew up a tender based on this analysis. As a result of the tender, the number of service providers was reduced to five. In addition, the new service provider structure reflects the company's needs, reducing transport costs by 36 per cent and CEP costs by 55 per cent.
In the area of waste disposal, ERA Group renegotiated prices with the previous buyer of materials, which are now based on indexation. Savings: 20 per cent.
DI (HTL) Andreas Veith, Managing Director of Josef Martin GmbH, was also very satisfied with the result and, in particular, with the presentation of the results. "The evaluations and key figures presented in the quarterly reports were not only important for the projects, but also for our corporate strategic decisions."
