Polar Special, part of the Cornelissen Group, specialises in the temperature-controlled transport of pharmaceutical products and high-value goods. For over 20 years, customers have benefited from Polar's global transport expertise, including road transport, air freight, sea freight and storage.

Ferry crossings have been a significant expense for Polar for many years. ERA was called in to investigate whether the current ferry service rates could be improved without compromising on quality and service.

The transport specialists at Polar thought they had the ferry service well organised. 'Partly because only one or two companies operate on some destinations. But ERA's analysis of our crossings and the current costs per provider surprised us. So did their insight into future developments. It turned out that there were indeed savings to be made.'

Polar particularly appreciated ERA's personal approach. 'The team conducted business negotiations with international expertise. In doing so, they carefully handled our existing working relationship and our requirements regarding quality and service. We did not expect the savings they achieved for us.'
